The person who registers a player must be a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old. By registering, you confirm that you have the authority to agree to these Terms for your player, and that you will review the expectations in these Terms with your player.
These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your family’s information.
How to register: all registration and payment is completed through TeamSnap, our registration partner.
Accurate information: you agree to provide complete and accurate information and to update it if anything changes, including contact details and emergency contacts.
Divisions: final divisions are set after registration closes. To make sure every player has a team, SDYS may combine grades or divisions, or form coed teams.
Team requests: teammate, coach, and carpool requests are welcome. We consider them, but we can’t guarantee them.
If we can’t place your player: if we’re unable to place your player on a team, you will receive a full refund.
Fees: program fees are shown during registration and may change based on when you register (for example, early registration pricing).
Payment: fees are paid through TeamSnap and its payment processors when you register.
Discounts: we offer a $30 sibling discount and a $30 military discount. Discounts do not stack and can’t be combined with each other or with other offers unless we say so in writing.
What’s included: registration includes a custom uniform that your player keeps, and professional player photos.
For the 2026–27 Fallbrook Hoops League season, team placement happens on November 18, 2026. Refund dates for other SDYS programs will be listed at registration.
Before team placement: you receive a refund minus a $25 administrative fee and any custom uniform cost already incurred.
After team placement, before the season starts: you receive 50% of the registration fee, minus any custom uniform cost already incurred.
After the season starts: no refunds are given for voluntary withdrawal, missed games, scheduling conflicts, or team or coach preferences.
Medical or hardship situations: these are reviewed one at a time and may qualify for a partial refund or a credit toward a future season.
If we can’t place your player: you receive a full refund.
Shortened season: if the season is shortened and canceled games can’t be rescheduled, you receive a prorated refund.
Removal for conduct: players or families removed under our Code of Conduct (Section 7) are not eligible for a refund.
How to request a refund: email support@sdyouthsports.com with your name, your player’s name, and the reason for your request. Approved refunds are paid within 10–15 business days.
We work hard to keep the season on schedule, but things happen. SDYS may change game and practice times, dates, locations, divisions, teams, and coaches when needed.
If games are canceled because of weather, facility closures, emergencies, or other events outside our control, we will try to reschedule them. If canceled games can’t be made up and the season is shortened, refunds follow Section 4. We share schedule updates through TeamSnap, email, and text message, so please keep your contact information current.
Every player receives equal playing time. Coaches rotate players so that playing time is shared equally across every game. Positions and lineups are decided by each coach. Adjustments may be made only for safety, injury, illness, late arrival, or conduct concerns. Coaches aim to build balanced teams and give every player a real chance to grow.
Our league runs on five values: positive, polite, fun, competitive, and respectful. Everyone who takes part (players, parents, guardians, family members, and spectators) agrees to:
Treat referees, coaches, volunteers, players, opponents, and staff with respect.
Cheer for good effort on both teams, and never yell at, taunt, or insult anyone.
Leave the coaching to the coaches and the officiating to the referees.
Use clean language and good sportsmanship, win or lose.
Never use violence, threats, bullying, or harassment of any kind, in person or online.
Never bring alcohol, drugs, tobacco, vapes, or weapons to any SDYS event.
Follow all facility rules and respect the gym and its property.
Consequences: most issues are handled with a friendly reminder. Repeated or serious issues may lead to a warning, removal from a game, practice, or the facility, suspension, or removal from the league without a refund. Serious incidents may lead to immediate removal. SDYS makes the final decision on all conduct matters.
Ready to play: you confirm that your player is physically able to take part in basketball, and you agree to tell us about any medical condition, allergy, or limitation we should know about.
Emergency care: if your player is injured or becomes ill and we can’t reach you right away, you authorize SDYS staff, coaches, and volunteers to call 911 and arrange emergency medical care. You are responsible for any medical costs.
Concussions: in line with California youth sports safety law, any player suspected of a concussion or head injury will be removed from play for the rest of the day and may not return until we receive written clearance from a licensed health care provider. If a concussion or head injury is diagnosed, the player must complete a graduated return-to-play protocol of at least seven days under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.
Fainting or cardiac symptoms: any player who faints or shows signs of a heart problem during activity will be removed from play and may not return until cleared in writing by a licensed health care provider.
Safety information: families receive the SDYS Concussion & Sudden Cardiac Arrest Information Sheet and acknowledge it each season as part of the Participant Waiver.
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT INCLUDES A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A WAIVER OF LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.
Participant Waiver: during registration, a parent or guardian must sign the SDYS Participant Waiver, Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk & Consent Agreement for each season. The signed waiver is part of these Terms, and if anything in this section conflicts with it, the signed waiver controls. The key terms are summarized below.
Releasees: San Diego Youth Sports LLC and its owners, members, managers, employees, coaches, volunteers, officials, agents, and sponsors, and the owners and operators of any facility used for SDYS programs, including school districts such as the Fallbrook Union High School District (together, the “Releasees”).
Participant: the player registered for an SDYS program.
Acknowledgment of risks: participation in basketball and related activities, including practices, games, skills training, warm-ups, team events, travel to and from activities, and the use of facilities and equipment, involves inherent risks. These include, but are not limited to: falls; collisions with other players, equipment, walls, or bleachers; being struck by a ball; sprains, strains, and fractures; dental, eye, and facial injuries; concussions and other head, neck, and spinal injuries; heat-related illness; cardiac events; exposure to illness or communicable disease; and, in rare cases, permanent disability, paralysis, or death. These risks may be caused by the Participant’s own actions, the actions of others, the condition of facilities or equipment, or the ordinary negligence of the Releasees.
Illness and communicable disease: players may be exposed to illnesses, including colds, flu, COVID-19, and other communicable diseases, and SDYS cannot guarantee that a player will not become ill. Please keep your player home if they are sick.
Assumption of risk: I have read and understand these risks. On behalf of myself and the Participant, I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks of participation, both known and unknown, including risks arising from the ordinary negligence of the Releasees.
Release and waiver: TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I, ON BEHALF OF MYSELF, THE PARTICIPANT, AND OUR HEIRS, ASSIGNS, PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND NEXT OF KIN, RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE THE RELEASEES FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE PARTICIPANT’S PARTICIPATION IN SDYS PROGRAMS, INCLUDING CLAIMS CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES. THIS RELEASE DOES NOT APPLY TO GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.
Indemnification: I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Releasees from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, brought by or on behalf of the Participant or arising from the conduct of the Participant or my family, to the extent permitted by law.
Medical treatment: I authorize the Releasees to obtain emergency medical treatment for the Participant as described in Section 8, and I accept responsibility for all related costs.
Parent or guardian authority: I am the parent or legal guardian of the Participant and have the legal authority to agree to this release on the Participant’s behalf. I intend this release to be binding on the Participant and on me.
Electronic acceptance: by accepting these Terms during registration, I agree that my electronic acceptance has the same legal effect as my handwritten signature.
Severability: this release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as California law permits. If any part of it is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in full force and effect.
BY REGISTERING, I CONFIRM THAT I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE, THAT I UNDERSTAND IT, AND THAT I AM VOLUNTARILY GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS.
SDYS carries general liability insurance for its programs. This is not health or accident insurance for players. Families are responsible for maintaining their own health insurance and for any medical costs related to their player’s participation.
Scheduled times only: players are supervised only during their scheduled practices, games, and events.
On time: please drop off and pick up your player on time. SDYS is not responsible for players before or after their scheduled times.
Facility rules: everyone must follow the rules of Fallbrook High School and any other facility we use.
Personal items: SDYS is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
Carpools: SDYS does not provide transportation. Carpools and rides are private arrangements between families, and travel to and from activities is at your own risk.
Our games, practices, and events are photographed, filmed, and recorded. By registering, you consent to your player being photographed, filmed, and recorded, and you allow SDYS to use this content on our website, on social media, and in promotional materials without payment. Spectators at our events also consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded.
If you’d prefer that your family not be photographed or recorded, email info@sdyouthsports.com. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
By registering, you agree to receive league updates from SDYS by email and text message, including schedules, reminders, and important announcements. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts or HELP for help. If you opt out of texts, please watch your email so you don’t miss important updates.
Our content: the SDYS and Fallbrook Hoops League names, logos, photos, graphics, and text on this website belong to SDYS or are used with permission. Please don’t copy or reuse them without our written permission.
Fair use of the site: you agree not to misuse our website, interfere with how it works, or use it for anything unlawful.
Other websites: our website links to services we don’t control, such as TeamSnap, Instagram, and Facebook. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them.
As is: we work to keep our website accurate and available, but it is provided “as is,” and information such as schedules and fees may change.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SDYS is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to our programs or website. Our total liability for any claim related to a program is limited to the registration fees you paid for that program. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited under California law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If a concern comes up, please contact us first. Most issues can be solved with a conversation. If a dispute can’t be resolved informally, both sides agree to try good-faith mediation in San Diego County first. Any legal dispute that still can’t be resolved will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Changes apply to registrations made after the update. If we make important changes that affect current families, we will let you know by email.
